Educator
As an educator, Ben moved into singing teaching after leaving his post as Head of Music at Tewkesbury School in 2012. He now has a busy schedule teaching singing and coaching vocal ensembles, based primarily at Dean Close School, Cheltenham. He is the vocal tutor to the choristers of Tewkesbury Abbey Schola Cantorum at Dean Close Preparatory School, and of his past pupils, one holds a choral scholarship to King's College, Cambridge and another to Merton College, Oxford. Ben's pupil, Cassian Pichler-Roca was named Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year in October 2018. He is also in regular demand to teach privately.
Ben is an astute and engaging adjudicator and has judged singing and music competitions at such institutions as Cheltenham College, Cheltenham Ladies' College, Bromsgrove School, Magdalen School, Oxford and his alma mater, Tiffin School. He has also adjudicated for Voice Festival UK, Rotary Young Musician of the Year Competition, and at the Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts.
